November 17, 1980 - Supreme Court Rules Against Ten Commandments in Classroom
The U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Stone v. Graham strikes down a Kentucky law requiring that the Ten Commandments be posted in public school classrooms. The Court finds that the classroom displays are done for religious purposes and therefore violate the First Amendment's Establishment Clause.
