January 15, 1929 - Martin Luther King Jr. Born
Civil rights leader and Baptist minister Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is born in Atlanta, Georgia. King's "I Have a Dream" speech during the 1963 March on Washington will be seen as a landmark moment in the U.S. Civil Rights Movement. In 1964 King will become the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, awarded for his efforts to promote peace and end racial injustice.
